Capital Actuary - 3 month contract.

Capital Actuary (Contract) 

Cavehill Consulting is seeking an experienced Capital Actuary for an initial 3-month contract (January to end of April). This role is based in the London Market and requires a commitment to onsite time in the London office.

The role is Inside IR35, with the agreed rate subject to standard PAYE or Umbrella tax and NI deductions.

The Role
This position focuses primarily on the technical review of Major Model Changes to syndicate capital models. You will be responsible for independently conducting comprehensive reviews of syndicate-level capital requirements and assessing adequacy across all key risk areas.

Key Responsibilities

Capital Reviews: Independently conduct reviews of syndicate-level capital, assessing requirements across premium, reserve, market, credit, and operational risks.

Assumptions & Diversification: Evaluate diversification and dependency assumptions as part of the capital assessment process.

Technical Validation: Evaluate key movement metrics and benchmarks, critically reviewing syndicate justifications and validation results.

Leadership: Lead and support junior team members, providing technical guidance, oversight, and peer review of their work.

Stakeholder Management: Present findings and recommendations to the Actuarial Oversight Review Group (AORG) and respond effectively to challenges regarding capital adequacy.

External Engagement: Communicate review outcomes to external parties, such as managing agents, and collaborate with internal underwriting, reserving, and reinsurance teams.

Project Oversight: Potentially take on project leadership responsibilities to ensure the delivery of key initiatives.

Requirements
Proven experience in a Capital Actuary role within the London Market.

Strong ability to articulate technical conclusions to senior oversight groups.

Ability to provide technical mentorship to more junior staff.

Experience with Credit Risk is not mandatory but would be highly beneficial.
